Do you suffer from teeth grinding? Bruxism, i.e. teeth grinding, refers to the involuntary clenching of the teeth in rapid periods and slow-motion grinding that occurs either during sleep or when awake. Specialist doctor Olga Lensu serves patients at the Femina Beauty beauty clinic every Wednesday from 15:00 to 20:00. Lensu has more than 15 years of experience in the treatment of bruxism.

Bruxism treatment costs 259€. Before the appointment, the specialist prescribes a prescription (botulinum) and the patient collects the botulinum from the pharmacy. In addition to the visit, the patient pays the price of the drug, i.e. botulinum, which is approx. 150€ after Kela reimbursement. We do not charge an outpatient clinic fee.

Is bruxism treatment a safe procedure?

Mild bruxism is very common and there are many reasons for teeth grinding. The causes of teeth grinding can be, for example, bite problems, hereditary predisposition and stress. Strong and frequent bruxism can damage the teeth and their enamel or cause various pain conditions in the oral region, ulcers of the oral lining, earache, dizziness or headaches.

Botulinum is used as the medicine for the treatment. Good treatment results have been obtained from the treatment of bruxism, because the drug affects the function of the nerve connections and thus reduces the overactive activity of the masticatory muscle.

The medicine is injected in small doses into the masticatory muscles on both sides of the face. The effect starts after 2-4 days, after which the chewing muscles relax and the teeth grinding stops.

What are the follow-up treatments like?

If it is deemed necessary, more of the botulinum can be added two weeks after the procedure. The side effects of the treatment are minor and mostly local, such as the injection sites may be irritated for a few days. The treatment can be renewed later.
